Your salary in addition to basic pay comprises of various allowances. These allowances are given over an above the salary as a financial benefit to the employee. There are allowances which are fully taxable, partly taxable and fully exempt from income tax. Therefore it is important for you as an employee to know the taxability of these salary allowances before filing of Income Tax Return.       Yes, Rahul, Uniform allowance exemption is available for FY 2018 – 19 to the extent of expenditure incurred for official purposes.

          Yes Sachin, you can claim exemption of uniform allowance in your ITR.

    Recovery of Excess Payment (ROP) From Salary of Employee is Exempted under income tax act ? iF Exempted then to what extent?

      Recovery of Excess Salary cannot be taxed in the hands of the employee. Only net salary (after adjusting recovery of excess payments) which is actually to the employee can be taxed.

      Income of NRI is taxable only if earned or collected in India. You need to report salary earned or accrued outside India in Schedule FSI of ITR 2.
